MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M system-on-chips (SoCs) in India at its annual Tech Day event in Delhi. Held under the theme “The Next Leap”, the event focused on power efficiency, hardware-accelerated agentic AI processing and enhanced multimedia computing.

Dual-NPU Architecture for Agentic AI
The chipset uses a dual-NPU architecture comprising NPU 1090 and a second power-efficient NPU. NPU 1090 offers 51% higher LLM prefill performance and 55% better token generation per watt. It also supports models with up to 30 billion parameters.
The second-generation power-efficient NPU is designed for always-on AI tasks and cuts always-on AI power use by 40%. MediaTek says the platform brings agentic AI processing together with improved efficiency.
