Core Highlights

  • Setup requires an Apple app-specific password, not the regular Apple Account password.
ChatGPT iCloud plugins

OpenAI has added ChatGPT iCloud plugins for users who want help with their iCloud inbox and calendar. Announced on 27 October 2026, the iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins let ChatGPT find messages, review schedules and make supported updates after connection and approval.

The two plugins are separate, so connecting Mail does not automatically connect Calendar. The feature is rolling out globally across ChatGPT plans, including Free, on the web, desktop app and iOS. Account, region and workspace controls can affect when the options appear.

What the ChatGPT iCloud Plugins Can Do

iCloud Mail can search and read emails, help manage messages and drafts, send email and look up contacts. This can help when you want to find a particular message or prepare a reply without searching through your inbox manually.

iCloud Calendar can read events, schedule new events and update existing ones. Changes appear in the iPhone Calendar app and other apps that use the same iCloud Calendar. OpenAI’s demonstration showed ChatGPT finding museum exhibit details in email, checking the calendar for a free evening and adding a Museum Night event.

Both plugins also include read-only contact lookup. OpenAI’s connected-app guidance has more details on app permissions and setup: Connected apps in ChatGPT.

How to Connect iCloud Mail or Calendar to ChatGPT

Before starting, make sure two-factor authentication is enabled on your Apple Account. You need a separate app-specific password for each connection. Never enter your normal Apple Account password in the plugin or paste any password into a ChatGPT conversation.

  1. ⚙️ Create an app-specific password: Go to account.apple.com, open Sign-In and Security, then select App-Specific Passwords and generate a password.
  2. 🔌 Open ChatGPT settings: In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Plugins.
  3. 📩 Choose a plugin: Select iCloud Mail or iCloud Calendar, then install it. They must be connected separately.
  4. 🔐 Enter the account details: For Mail, enter your iCloud email address ending in @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com. For Calendar, enter your primary Apple Account email, which may be different.
  5. ✅ Complete the connection: Enter the app-specific password in the connection form and follow any authorisation prompts. Review requests carefully; ChatGPT may ask for approval before reading information or taking an action.

If you change or reset your main Apple Account password, Apple revokes all app-specific passwords. You will need to create new app-specific passwords and reconnect the affected plugins. To remove access, revoke the relevant app-specific password through account.apple.com.

What the Plugins Can and Cannot Access

The Mail plugin covers iCloud Mail addresses ending in @icloud.com, @me.com and @mac.com. It does not connect Gmail or Outlook accounts simply because those accounts are also added to the Mail app on an iPhone.

iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar are independent connections. Linking one does not grant access to the other. Both provide read-only contact lookup, but this launch does not include separate Contacts or Reminders plugins.

ChatGPT can only use the actions supported by the selected plugin and the permissions you grant. It may ask for approval before reading messages or carrying out an action, so review each request before allowing it.

Availability on ChatGPT Plans and Devices

OpenAI says the iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins are available across all ChatGPT plans, including Free, on the web, desktop app and iOS. Android is not listed in the announcement. The rollout is global, but plan eligibility, region, account settings and workspace administrator controls can delay access for some users.

The integrations have also been reported as compatible with ChatGPT Dot, OpenAI’s proactive agent. The exact experience can depend on which connected apps and features are available to your account.

Conclusion

The new ChatGPT iCloud plugins bring email search and calendar management into ChatGPT through two separate connections. Use an Apple app-specific password, check the permissions carefully and remember that availability can vary while the global rollout continues.
